Abstract：This study analyzed the relationship between scores and losing points with the forecast variables, and the factors affecting the Chinese Taipei Female Basketball Team's (CTFB) offense and defense. The CTFB team and seven teams of the 2005 World University Games were the subjects. The CTFB team's scores and losing points were used as dependent variable. The 13 technical performances of the CTFB team and those of its competitor were adopted as forecast variables. The Pearson product moment correlation was used to analyze the relationship between scores and losing points allowed of CTFB team with its achievement in forecasting the 13 variables in technical performance. The backward selection multiple regression was used to seek the best forecast variable combination to forecast that the CTFB team's scores and points allowed for the performance. The material test difference examination standard hypothesis was set at α=.05. The findings were, first, the CTFB team's scores had a positive correlation with 2-point attempts, assists but a negative correlation with competitor's steals. The CTFB team's losing points allowed had a positive correlation with competitor's two points made and assists while having a negative correlation with competitor's turnovers and the CTFB team's defensive rebounds and steals. Second, the CTFB team's 2-point attempts, three points made, free throws made, offensive rebounds, and competitor's defensive rebounds and blocked shots were effective in predicting the scores of the CTFB team. The competitors' two points made, three points attempted, free throws made, offensive rebounds along and the CTFB team's fouls and blocked shots were effective in forecasting the missing points of the CTFB team. This study is concluded that if the CTFB team intends to increase scoring in games, it will need to effectively use the following two elements: quickness and accuracy. But it must beware of the opponents' steals. Also, it intends to decrease the losing points, it will have to decrease two the quickness and accuracy of the opponents and use our defensive advantage of height and speed. (Full text)
