Abstract:The main purpose of this study was to analyze the features of attack tactics among the semifinals of top women taekwondo players under 46 kg. This study recorded videos from 3 semifinal games in Gwangju Summer Universiade. After recording, categorized data were used for comparison using Chi-Square Test. The main results were as follows: (1) Players most frequently used the forefoot (79%) attack and hitting target at middle section (81%) motions to attack other players in semifinals. (2) The main attack pattern among Chinese Taipei players (Gold Medal) is sliding side kick with right foot forward (scoring average 6.25%), whereas the players of Thailand (Silver Medal) and Cyprus (Bronze Medal) scored by downward kick with right foot backward (respective scoring average 42.86% and 50.00%), and players of Korea (Bronze Medal) took spin kick as main attacking motion although they didn’t score. (3) Different types of attacking motions, such as side kick, consecutive side kick, and sliding side kick shows significant differences among players in semifinal. Furthermore, the gold medalist has scored better than others on above attacking types. This study concludes that all players were active in attack. Main attacking type was by the forefoot and targeting at middle section, main tactics was spin kick, and the scoring type was downward kick. Although the attacking tactics targeting at high level have been main trend and key points of the game, understanding of how to play with the attacking tactics of self-strength is also important for winning the game.
