Effects of Swiss Ball Training on Specialty Performance in Senior High School Baseball Players
Abstract:Resistance training with sophisticated equipment usually considers promoting the muscular strength in athletes. Some remote schools are unable to purchase the costly equipment to maintain the resistance training facilities. This study was designed to evaluate the Swiss ball training effects on core muscular strength and specialty performance in senior high school baseball players. We recruited twenty-four baseball players and assigned into resistance training (n=12) and Swiss ball training (n=12) groups. Both groups performed their respective exercise trainings 3-time for a week. We measured core muscular strength and specialties in baseball performance before and after six weeks of training. In this study, we found specialties in baseball performance including, distance of throwing, speed of throwing and base running speed in resistance trained group similar to the Swiss ball trained group. Our results suggest that no differences in performance between resistance and Swiss ball trained players. This study concludes that baseball team from the remote schools, those have restrictions in funds and space usage, can use the low expensive Swiss ball training instead of resistance training for improve the core muscular strength and specialties in performance.
