Effect of Intelligent Health Service Intervention on Health Promotion and Physical Fitness Among Employees at Workplaces
Abstract:The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of intelligent health service intervention on health awareness, health-related factors, obesity-relative factors, and physical fitness among the employees at urban workplaces. One hundred and forty white-collar employees from Taipei City were recruited, and completed the intelligent health service intervention that include smartphone application (APP) pushing notifications about health-related and exercise training courses at the workplace for 12 weeks. Health awareness, body weight, blood pressure, resting heart rate, waist-hip ratio, and physical fitness variables of employees were measured before and after the intervention. The results showed that the grip strength, sit-ups within 30 seconds, vertical jump height, and agility of male employees were significantly improved after intervention. The resting heart rate of male employees was also notably increased after 12-week intelligent health service intervention. However, for the female employees, only agility and sit-ups within 60 seconds were significantly improved after intervention. The correct rate of health awareness test of all employees was increased. We conclude that the intelligent health-service intervention increased health awareness, tuned lifestyle, and promoted physical fitness of the white-collar employees. Through the implementation of self-health management APPs at workplace with pushing health-related notifications and exercise training courses could effectively promote the health and well-being of employees.
