Abstract：The purpose of this study was to analyze the backcourt techniques of badminton men's single (MS)-player champion, Viktor Axelsen from Denmark. This study was conducted by examining the performance of Axelsen in the 2 MS finals against Dan Lin at World Championships Scotland 2017, and Chong Wei Lee at Japan Open 2017, respectively. The reliability of the Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient was up to 0.98. At the same time, the use of frequency percentile distribution in the backcourt technique was discussed. Our results showed that pressing offensive was used by Axelsen against Dan Lin in the right backcourt. There were 2 games with a total of 93 hit back techniques, including the smash straight (31%) and the cut straight (20%) being the most. In the left backcourt, a total of 44 hit back techniques were hit, with a maximum of 55% of the smash straight. In a 3-round game with Chong Wei Lee, a total of 3 games in the right backcourt, the technique mostly used was 44% for smash straight and 22% for clear straight. The left was the smash straight 54% for the most. This study concludes that the backcourt skills of Axelsen were mostly pressing offensive tactics, especially the straight smash was used to achieve the score and to keep himself in the position of active advantage. (Full text)
